grateful to lixil for inviting to speak at this year's ASDC forum regarding urban living of tomorrow in tune with the environment. our studio drafted and presented an abstract model to visualise our proposed response to two aspects for sensible living largely neglected from our observation; "living with less" and "extensive outdoor living" as taught so wonderfully by the vernacular architecture of the region. the model comprises 7-12 units with minimal, air-conditioned, double-story spaces for all essentials, well sheltered from sun and rain, gathering around a shared "village access square" for play and natural connections. extensive, green and private verandas complement the limited indoor space and lead to a generous living, supporting both physical and mental well-being.
