the lycée français rené descartes is situated along wat phnom park, surrounded by a series of significant landmarks of phnom penh’s historic centre. over its respectable history, the campus has undergone multiple changes of various architectural qualities. the school’s capacity is to be increased from the current 1,200 to 1,400 students in the near future. the overall conduciveness of the premises shall be improved and made fit to satisfy demands of the next decades.

a leaflike, slightly folded roof spans elegantly over the entire width of the compound, balancing on solid and carefully orchestrated wall fragments, protecting and marking the Swiss representation clearly yet modestly, with an affinity to the stone walls often seen at the entrances of the Cambodian villas of the 1960s.

no easy surgery to nearly double a strongly protected, small partitioned, historic museum from the 19th century by adding a large size, column free and flexible exhibition hall for highly uv-sensitive artefacts.
it is an honour to have reached the last of six rounds of a two-tier competition with 188 participating teams including Sou Foujimoto (Tokyo-Paris), Tatiana Bilbao (Mexico), Christian Kerez (Zurich), Diener Diener (Basel) to mention a few.

building on the legacy of late VANN MOLYVANN’s 100 houses village conception. a settlement that becomes home far from home for thousands of workers and their kids, parents and friends. located in the Phnom Penh special economical zone at the south west periphery of the capital of cambodia, this 300 house project provides affordable housing with low monthly costs as well as simple and comfortable living adhering to habits and traditions found in cambodia. located in the convenient distant to the work place, yet sensitively nested into a rich and diverse natural environment, residents shall live, rest, be inspired and aspire.

rooted in the the frame of an existing khmer traditional house, the whole upper floor of a guest house in the compound is transformed into an attractive, refined yet modest and rich living space.

a wide, floating, tree-trunks-like roof, reminiscent of Singapore's traditional homes, provides protection against heat and monsoon rains. the underlying structure with its solidly framed, large glazing, the lush green of the shady, tropical surroundings is noticeable in the premises of the new law firm. a large open plan office in combination with several call islands, hot desks, single offices, printing booth, social area, meeting and conference rooms over an area of 532m2 creates a conducive work environment for up to 36 permanent staff members, visitors and partners alike.

the design integrates surrounding elements - existing trees on-site, the water-cooled breezes from the Mekong, as well as views to both the river and to the city.

a place for solace, refuge and retreat, a room for prayer, meditation and reconnection with the source of life; the I am the I am. perhaps an instrument to fill the space, a word to be read, or simply silence with the sea breeze touching the face, nature to envelope, being in the presence.

commercial tower near phnom penh's international airport to host chea ry co.,ltd's head office and sales gallery, a convenience store and flexible office space for lease.
the stabilizing double v-columns bestow a unique emblem to the building and its users. overhangs in combination with roller shutters and greenery provide weather protection and an agreeable indoor climate. materials used are largely recyclable.
